What’s usually behind it
We diagnose before we quote, and we’d rather you knew what we were looking for. These are the faults that come through the workshop most often.
| What you’re seeing | Usual cause | What the fix normally is |
|---|---|---|
| Oven won’t heat at all | Failed bake element, or a thermostat that has stopped calling for heat | Element or thermostat replacement |
| Heats, but burns or undercooks | Thermostat drifted out of calibration, or a failed fan motor | Recalibrate or replace the thermostat; fan motor if it isn’t turning |
| Door won’t sit flush, heat escaping | Perished door seal, or hinges that have dropped | New seal, or hinge replacement |
| Gas burner clicks but won’t light | Blocked burner port, or a failed igniter | Clean the burner and cap, replace the igniter |
| Trips the safety switch when turned on | Moisture, or an element that has broken down internally | Insulation test, then element replacement |
| Clock or timer stops it starting | Failed electronic timer or control board | Timer or PCB replacement |
Why there are no prices on this page. We service sixty-eight brands, and the same symptom can be a cheap part on one machine and an expensive one on the next — so any price list we published would be wrong more often than it was right. Instead: we diagnose it, we quote it, and you approve that price before any work starts. If the repair isn’t worth doing, we’ll tell you that instead.
On-site, or in the workshop?
Wall ovens, under-bench ovens and cooktops are almost always repaired where they sit — they’re wired or plumbed in, and pulling one out is more disruption than the repair itself. We only take an oven away when a fault needs bench testing.

Not sure if it’s worth fixing?
Call and describe the fault — we’ll give you a straight answer before you commit to anything. Ovens are often a cheap element or thermostat; when they’re genuinely past it, we’ll tell you that instead.

Questions we get asked
Is a new element worth it on an older oven?
Usually yes. Elements are one of the cheaper repairs, and if the rest of the oven is sound it will buy you years. We’ll tell you if the cavity or the wiring is far enough gone that it isn’t worth it.
Do you work on gas as well as electric?
Yes, both — gas cooktops, electric cooktops and combination units.
Can you repair a built-in wall oven in place?
Almost always. Wall ovens and under-bench units are normally repaired where they sit.
